Country star Kenny Chesney fired off at the organizers of the Academy of Country Music Awards - just minutes after picking up his fourth Entertainer of the Year prize at Sunday's event.
The singer thanks fans for voting for him online during his acceptance speech from the stage, but behind the scenes he was far from happy the night's big award was decided by an Internet vote.
Chesney growled, "They took it (award) from what the award really represents into a sweepstakes to see who can push people's buttons the hardest on the Internet. It's complete disrespect for the artist... It really diminishes the integrity of the music that we're making. And I can say that because I won."
There's no shortage of sad songs about rainy days and lovers who don't bring flowers. And then there are songs that truly bring the pain -- songs so despairing they can make us wonder why we even bother.

'The way he came into the store, the mood he was in, I knew this was very serious,' celeb blingmaster Jacob the Jeweler reportedly said of Nick's ring-shopping trip.
While there was no official word at press time whether Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have actually gotten married, People magazine reported on Friday (May 2) that Bishop Clifford Petty of the National Church of God in Governor's Harbour in the Caribbean island of Eleuthera confirmed that he presided over their wedding. Petty provided no details except to say that he did not give a sermon.
Earlier on Friday, the magazine reported that Jacob the Jeweler, who reportedly made Carey's ring, confirmed the wedding. The magazine also cited an unnamed source as saying that the singer obtained a marriage license in Eleuthera, although a representative at the island's register's office told MTV News on Friday that she has no record of a license in Carey's or Cannon's names. However, Monique Gomez, a Bahamian attorney in Nassau who specializes in family law. told People.com, "The minister would make sure [the license] goes into the registry. It's still a valid marriage even if it's not filed. Anywhere in the world."
Eleuthera is located next to the island of Windermere, where Carey reportedly owns a home. The Web site of the island's register's office states that couples wishing to get married there need only spend one day in the Bahamas before submitting an application for a marriage license; they also must fill out the application together at the register's office, pay a fee of $40, and in Mariah's case, a certification of her divorce (from her ex-label head Tommy Mottola) must be produced. The license is valid for three months. People's report states that Carey herself obtained the license.
Some have speculated that Carey actually may have married or be marrying Mark Sudack (a member of her management team whom she has long been rumored to be dating), but TMZ.com claimed on Friday that those reports are untrue. Also on Friday, a rep for "The View" confirmed that Carey had been scheduled to tape the show on Monday (for a segment scheduled to air Friday, May 9) but had canceled.
Neither Cannon's nor Carey's spokespeople have returned calls for comment from MTV News, and Cannon evaded a series of questions from MTV News on the matter Monday.
However, a relative of Cannon's, Linda Cannon (her relationship to the singer was not detailed), reportedly told E! News on Thursday, "Yes, we know. He called us and told us all about it. We are happy for him. If that is what he wants then we are happy for him. I'm not going to give you any details, but we are happy for him."
Carey, 38 and Cannon, 27, reportedly have been dating for less than two months, which is half as long as Cannon was going out with Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks when he proposed to her with a 15-carat stone via a JumboTron in New York's Times Square. Cannon and Ebanks broke up in October.
Last week, Carey was spotted wearing a large diamond ring that began the speculation that she and Cannon were an item. According to The Associated Press, Jacob quickly put out a press release about the ring Cannon reportedly gave Carey, which described it as "crafted from platinum and features a square emerald cut fancy light pink diamond as the center stone surrounded by 58 intense pink diamonds and two half moon diamonds on each side. ... The total carat weight of the ring — center stone is 10 carats — is a jaw-dropping 17 carats with a value of $2.5 million."
On Friday, People.com reported that Jacob (whose last name is Arabo) told them, "The way he came into the store, the mood he was in, I knew this was very serious. He said 'Jacob, I'm in love. This is what I want to do.' He said he wanted something in pink, so he picked something in a light purple-ish pink. He was very involved and he trusted me to design the ring."
Arabo reportedly added, "He loves her. That's all I know."
A number of media outlets have speculated that this episode is a publicity stunt, though the couple have been seen in public numerous times since Cannon filmed a cameo in the video for Carey's new single, "Bye Bye," several months ago.
Los Angeles - Pieces of Ashlee Simpson are going to be all over the mall this spring.
To coincide with the April release of her third studio album, Bittersweet World, the 22-year-old pop star is taking a cue from her shoe-fashioning sis and designing a line of tops for retailer Wet Seal, the teen-favorite clothier announced Thursday. The collection, "inspired by Ashlee Simpson's personality, sense of style and album artwork," will launch in Wet Seal stores nationwide on April 22, according to the chain, which will also be rolling out the in-store and online promotional guns to tout both the album and the new shirts. "I was inspired by so many fun, wonderful things as I was recording Bittersweet World, and it's been great to carry through those inspirations into these new shirt designs," said Simpson. "I hope my fans love this album and rock out in these shirts!"
And just as you can pick up a Paul McCartney CD to go with your Starbucks latte, you'll be able to snag a Simpson disc along with a graphic tee and some skinny jeans.
"Ashlee is a role model for our girl, and her fun and flirty sense of style is an inspiration for the line," Wet Seal CEO Ed Thomas said. "The goal was to partner with an icon and deliver affordable fashion, and Ashlee is an ideal partner for this."
"Little Miss Obsessive," the first single off of Bittersweet World, was released digitally on March 11 and hit the airwaves a week later.
Jordan Bratman loves Christina Aguilera's post-pregnancy body.
The “Candy man” singer - who gave birth to son Max Liron on January11 this year - lost her toned physique when she fell pregnant, but revealed Jordan loves her enlarged breasts.
She said: "I haven't quite got back to my pre-baby weight yet, but I'm loving my body right now. My husband loves my cleavage in particular!
"I've just got back into the gym and I'm doing some boxing and weights. I want to be totally back in shape for when I start putting out my next record."
Christina - who is the face of Stephen Webster's new jewelry collection - also said she has no plans to put her unique sense of style on the backburner now she is a mother.
"It's special but its more every day. It suits exactly how I feel right now - every day I just wake up happy," the singer added.
Mariah Carey loves being called a diva.
The 'Hero' singer - who is renowned for her outrageous demands - says it's a compliment to have that reputation because it means she's successful. She said: "They throw that word around like it's a friggin' Frisbee!
"I grew up hearing it, because my mother is an opera singer. The actual definition is 'a talented female singer.' Definition two is 'a difficult woman who is successful,' I believe. So I take it as a compliment."
Despite her reputation, Mariah insists she doesn't make enough demands.
The 38-year-old star told Parade magazine: "You know what? I guess I am a diva in many ways! When it comes to certain things, yes, I can be difficult and a little bit rigid about what I want. Am I demanding? I don't think I'm demanding enough. I think if I were more demanding, I would have felt that I had some sort of power, as opposed to feeling like a pawn, which is something I had to grow out of."
The Sun is reporting that Amy Winehouse is going back to rehab.
She is set to return to treatment and get help abroad.
A source tells the paper: "Amy has admitted she needs to check into rehab again. There are too many temptations for her in the UK — people around her in London are making it impossible for her to stay clean for any length of time. Her management had considered flying her to a clinic in Israel. They are also assessing a clinic in Cape Town in South Africa, according to the source.
He has already been dubbed the David Beckham of the violin, but this moniker isn’t just about his looks, it’s also a reference to the sheer dedication and hard work since the age of nine that has resulted in David Garrett becoming one of the finest players of his generation. Like Mr Beckham he enjoys international success, with album sales and sold out concerts across the globe.
David Garrett personifies the word 'virtuoso’ , although he is just 26, he has been performing publicly since the age of ten with the Hamburg Philharmonic, then at twelve with the legendary Yehudi Menuhin and Isaac Stern, he also became the youngest person to sign a recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon.
He ran away from home in his teens to attend the Julliard School in New York, against his parent’s wishes, a rift that has still to be fully healed. Garrett is no ordinary Violinist, his raw talent has been honed by the finest teachers, including Itzhak Perlman at the Julliard. His life experiences have also given him the soul that makes his playing extraordinary. David plays not just with his fingers but with his heart.
David has already established himself in Europe, South America and Asia, with a series of sell out concerts, playing with top orchestras and conductors, including Sir Neville Marriner , Claudio Abbado and Zubin Mehta. Unusually for a violinist many of his fans are still at school and show an unprecedented level of enthusiasm at his concerts. Onstage David exudes charisma and showmanship, performing a mesmerising version of 'Duelling Banjos’ (from the movie Deliverance) as a guitar duet, 'Duelling Strings’, and his energetic show stopper, the 'Gypsy Dance’ by Csárdás. His rendition of Flight of the 'Bumble Bee’ has to be seen to be believed. His debut album for Universal Music 'Virtuoso’ reflects the tastes of a 26 year old who is clearly in love with melodies, no matter what musical genre they come from. Tracks include his own virtuoso interpretations of popular classics 'Carmen’, 'Paganini’, as well as romantic film themes, Morricone’s 'La Califfa’, Bernstein’s 'Somewhere’, and, as he considers himself one of the MTV generation, has created a brilliant symphonic reworking of the metal masters, Metallica’s 'Nothing Else Matters’. To further show his multifarious talents, David has composed three very different pieces for the album. 'Serenade’, a tale of heartbreak and woe, 'Toccata’, a violin take on a modern sound and 'Eliza’s Song’ a classic love song.
David is already enjoying phenomenal success in Germany with his album 'Virtuoso’ outselling such greats as Pavarotti and Bocelli in the Classical charts and hitting the top 30 of the pop charts. In South East Asia his album entered the pop charts at No.3 just behind Mika and Avril Lavigne and straight in at No.1 in their classical chart.
David played his first solo concert in the UK at The Barbican on February 14th, the date immediately sold out.
The old saying 'seeing is believing’ really does hold true when it comes to David Garrett.
The album 'Virtuoso’ will be released on March 24th through Universal Classics and Jazz
